Government College of Art, Chandigarh is one of the prominent institutes of Fine Arts in India. It is a very prestigious institute which primarily caters to the needs of the students in North India, who aspire to delve deep into various facets and nuances of art and aesthetics. Over the past many decades, Government College of Art fully understands its responsibility and endeavours to impart best of the knowledge to its students and keep pace with the changing times and trends. It was established by the British originally in Lahore in the late 19th century. After partition it came to Shimla, before it finally moved to the City Beautiful, Chandigarh. Since its inception, it has met many challenges successfully and it continues to strive for perfection. Many of its alumni have made a distinct identity for themselves in various fields, at academic and professional levels in India and abroad.
